Americans are stupid...
...at least, that's what Bill Maher had to say on CNN two days ago. An oh how the outrage poured in. Even before the interview was over, Wolf Blitzer was asking Maher is he wanted to further clarify such a blanket statement after telling him viewers were already sending in angry e-mails. It was clear Maher was not going to back down from his original statement, but "clarified" by saying (I'm paraphrasing) some Americans are very bright, but most are not.
See for yourself:
I think people's knee-jerk reactions to Maher's words are very telling. I wasn't offended by him, were you?
Maher is a comedian, and one who has made a career out of making brash statements about people and politics. This is par for the course for him, I don't see why people were shocked to hear this sort of comment from him.

Only hit dogs hollar. I totally agree with you and don't understand what was so shocking about a comedian doing what he does.
Perhaps many are offended because they know Maher's statement has some truth to it. Anyone that has read a paper lately, or listened to a news broadcast should have found at least one article about someone doing or saying something stupid.
so true, so true, and i'm one of the bright ones. :)
If the comments from Mr. Maher would have been geared toward Barrack Hussein Obama and his followers, would you have asked this question? For that matter, would you have even posted it? probably Nop!

You are simply part of the many reasons Bill Maher and all the alike have a job. You help fuel their popularity. oh ! and by the way, if he is a comedian, why isn’t he funny?
So many of us have and will cancel our subscriptions for such comedy!
Facts and tidbits about the OP:
Noticed lately how many caricatures of Obama in the papers? That would be mean to publish that. Sadly for the Oakland Press, Georges Bush can’t be blame anymore. No more monkey faces and big ugly ears to post!
How about the fastest dropping polls in the history of poll tracking for a President? Not news for the OP right? That would be mean to report that too, right? But put 100 days in the front page is OK
Or even better! Best DOW Jones July records on 20 years , posted real small with the obituaries instead of the front page. Now that’s funny
P.s. I bet you my renewal subscription that you think Bill Press and Michael Moore are a fine writers too!
Please feel free to pass this along to someone who cares at the Oakland Press. I know I am passing it along to many intelligent subscribers!
Well, for what it's worth, here is a link to a video where Maher rips on Obama pretty mercilessly. The video quality is not as good, but you get the idea.
